Your support of Community FarmShare enables our farm partners to grow the vegetables and fruit that nourish our communities and helps local farms to be sustainable.

Amaranth Acres is a family-owned vegetable farm located in the Agricultural Reserve of Montgomery County. We come from a long line of farmers – but on another continent. Also, we are one generation removed from farming. We remember visiting our grandparents’ farms and feeling the most alive when we were there. This is our attempt to return to our roots and work our land as we do what we love most.

We grow fresh, organic South Asian vegetables including Indian, Pakistan, Srilanka, Bangladesh and some Chinese vegetables, which are almost impossible to find in this area. The vegetables and fruits are grown sustainably without pesticides, artificial fertilizers, or other chemicals.

Blueberry Gardens is a small vegetable and blueberry farm in Ashton, MD, begun by neighbors Robert True and Howard Zuses in 1995. We do u-pick blueberries in season and raise a variety of field and hoop house grown vegetables year round. Our organizing principle is “Eat Local, Eat Healthy”. In our efforts to do our part in making this happen for our community, we follow biodynamic and organic farming techniques. We have been and continue to nurture the soil in which our vegetables are grown.

Chestnut Ridge Farm is a family-owned sustainable farm dedicated to providing the highest quality products while caring for the land and animals. We employ regenerative agriculture practices that improve soil health, reduce chemical inputs, and create a balanced ecosystem on our farm.

On our 5 suburban acres bordering Seneca Creek State Park, Nature never ceases to amaze our family and friends. Whether we are surprised by a clutch of chicks in the coop, tasting unforgettably sweet berries, romping on yet another newly formed natural play gym, practicing bush skills, harvesting from the intricate 3 sisters garden or simply coexisting in the world beyond our built structure, we feel community and oneness with this ‘natural order of things’.

We adhere to the Permaculture Ethics: people care, Earth care and limit growth/return the surplus as well as regenerative organic standards. Examples include the green renovation of our historic circa 1890’s home, on-farm biodynamic and organic practices, closing community waste loops, native conservation landscaping to manage stormwater, and practical/educational outreach.

Chirandu Farm is a thriving small vegetable farm proudly owned and operated by two sisters of African heritage in the heart of Dickerson, dedicated to providing the DMV Area with the freshest and most unique organic farm vegetables. We grow an array of nutritious vegetables and food crops, focusing on sustainable and regenerative farming practices. Our diverse selection includes traditional favorites as well as unique African specialty ethnic foods like okra, beets, pumpkin leaves, spinach, maize, and horned melon.

Common Root Farm is a regenerative, small-scale, certified organic vegetable farm located near Olney, MD. We offer a CSA, sell at farmers markets, online through our website, and to local restaurants and grocers.

We use certified organic, regenerative, ecologically sound farming techniques free from synthetic chemicals and pesticides. Our practices include minimal-till, crop-rotation, and preventative pest and disease measures, along with the use of natural and complete amendments. This allows the earth to rejuvenate the soil life and provide a healthy habitat for pollinators, beneficial insects, and soil biology—all of which contribute to your tasty and nutritious veggies!

At East Oaks Farm, we are dedicated to traditional farming methods and always put quality above all else. Our farm produces a diverse selection of fresh vegetables and raises free-range livestock in natural conditions.

Evans Homes and Gardens is a family-owned farm growing vegetables, fruits, ornamental trees, shrubs and bedding plants and cut flowers, dedicated to providing excellent customer service and environmental sustainability. Founded in 1987, we have adapted to our current practice toward growing all our plants from seeds or starts in our native soils. Much of our ongoing effort is to improve our soil for growing both our in-ground crops, greenhouse crops, and our potted plants so customers can succeed with healthy plants ready to grow in their home gardens.

The Farm at Our House is a certified organic vegetable farm in Brookeville, Maryland supporting our community through locally grown and accessible produce. We are committed to sustainable agriculture and implement restorative practices associated with regenerative farming including minimal-till farming to avoid disturbing the soil, using heavy mulching instead to keep down weeds and cover cropping. Minimal-till farming helps maintain soil biodiversity and increases the earth’s capacity for carbon sequestration while cover cropping helps with erosion and replenishes the soil’s vital nutrients. The Farm operates on land owned by Our House, a residential job training center for at-risk youth.

This family-owned business has been a treasured part of Montgomery County life since 1888. The Lewis family are the fourth generation to own and operate Lewis Orchards Farm Market at the intersection of MD State Route 28 (Darnestown Road) and Peach Tree Road. The farm grows its own fruits and vegetables on its land and provides customers with same-day-picked produce. They have a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, from June through Thanksgiving.

Loves Gardens is run by Rachele Stines and Dr. Lavell Merritt, Jr. Rachele has deep roots and connection in the DC MD and VA community, and she educates the public about agriculture through classes, videos, and hands-on experiences in their gardens. Lavell is a long-time farmer with over 30 years of experience in agriculture and community outreach. Early in his professional career, he assisted in setting up a Farmer’s Market in Ward 8 through the Capital Area Food Bank and Clagett Farm.

We believe that everyone should have easy access to delicious and nutritious food, and it’s our pleasure to make that vision a reality.

With a collective 20+ years of farming under our belt, One Acre Farm is run by a team of farmers who care deeply about the environment, the vegetable bounty and the community of people we feed. One thing is certain, this farm would not be what it is today without the hard work and dedication of every single team member, which is why we are equally dedicated to making sure each member of our team can live and support their families off of the work they do here.

Farmer Mike started One Acre Farm in 2006 because he wanted to create a community where people can feel an association with the farm, farmers, crops and vegetables they serve their family. Despite its name, One Acre Farm sits on 34 acres in Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve, though it did originate on a much smaller plot in 2006, when farmer Mike was just starting out. We grow food for a 160+ person CSA, two “corporate” CSA programs, a Food as Medicine program, and for our wonderful food assistance providers like CFS!

Red Wiggler is a sustainable care farm where people with and without developmental disabilities come together to work, learn, and grow healthy food. Each growing season, half of our harvest is funneled through our Harvest Share Program. This is made possible by blending our traditional CSA program with targeted outreach: 50% of our produce is sold to our CSA members, farmers markets, and on‑farm events, while the remaining 50% is shared through our partnerships with food banks, local schools, and hunger-relief agencies.

By combining organic farming practices with a 50/50 distribution model, Red Wiggler advances food equity in Montgomery County. Our approach reduces food waste and promotes health in underserved communities, while also strengthening our mission of meaningful employment for adults with disabilities.

At Sandy Spring Gardens, we grow 50 types of vegetables on our farm in Ashton, Maryland, on five plots totaling 4 acres. We grow vegetables knowing that increasing the proportion of fresh vegetables in the diet is one of the keys to good health. We harvest them daily, knowing that the nutritional value and flavor of many vegetables begins to decline soon after harvest. And we offer them only to our local community because we believe the surest guarantee that a farm product is free of toxic chemical residues comes when consumers can know and trust their local farmer.  With shorter transport distances and times, we can grow varieties that are superior in flavor and nutrition to those available in the industrial-commodity food system. And finally, reducing the distance food travels from farm to table yields a small but meaningful reduction in the energy expenditure and climate impact of food distribution.

Stelo Acres is a family-owned regenerative fruit and flower farm providing the Montgomery County community with sustainably grown fruits, beautiful cut flowers, edible plant starts, and garden education resources.
