Corrie Troxel
Volunteer Coordinator
Corrie Troxel (she/her) is the Volunteer Coordinator at Community FarmShare. She grew up in Northeast Indiana and has lived in Montgomery County for 15 years. Corrie resides in Darnestown, MD with her husband, two sons, and two fluffy goldendoodles. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Butler University, in Indianapolis, IN and taught first grade for 5 years. After her first child was born, she was fortunate to be able to take on a stay-at-home mom role. She enjoyed being able to volunteer at their schools to get her “teacher fix”. Corrie also stepped up to be the Box Tops for Education coordinator for a few years at their elementary school, which then led to becoming the Fundraising Chair on the PTA Board for two years. Once both boys were in school full time, Corrie went back to work part-time at her husband’s financial planning office, processing new business for 8 years. She decided to “retire” in 2019 so that she could pursue more volunteer opportunities and have more time to exercise, garden, and devote more time to planning and cooking for her and her husband’s plant-based diet. Besides working on the garden and landscaping in her yard, she enjoys hiking and all things nature, and antiquing.
Corrie volunteers regularly for Manna Food Center’s Community Food Rescue Program. She has been involved with Community FarmShare for 3 years. Food insecurity has always just been kind of a passion for her. When she found out about the mission of Community FarmShare, she just knew she had to be involved. Because she and her husband eat a Whole Food Plant Based diet, they know the importance of having fresh fruits and vegetables as part of one’s diet. They have seen first-hand what a difference it makes in your health and well-being. Getting fresh foods into the homes of people that may not otherwise have access to it is so important to Corrie. She is proud to be a part of Community FarmShare and is amazed at the growth of the program in such a short time.
